v 1. Русскому глаголу собирать соответствует ряд слов в английском языке — to collect, to gather, to pick, to save, to call. Глаголы to collect и to gather взаимозаменяемы в значении собираться, накапливаться:

Dust collected (gathered) quickly — Пыль быстро накопилась;

A crowd collected (gathered) —

(3). Русским словосочетаниям собирать грибы, ягоды, цветы соответствуют глаголы to pick и to gather, to gather (to pick) mushrooms (flowers, some berries). Собирать урожай соответствует английским to gather (to take in) the crops (harvest). (4).

to call a meeting (a conference);

to call the students (members of the club) together.
